Governor Abiodun, Ibori, Others Honour Pa Ayodele Senbanjo at Lagos Burial
Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, joined notable dignitaries at the funeral of the late Pa Ayodele Oluwole Senbanjo, father of Segun Senbanjo, in Lagos on Thursday, May 1, 2025. The solemn occasion, which drew political and industry leaders, was held at the Cathedral Church of Christ, Marina, followed by a reception at Harbour Point, Victoria Island.
Also in attendance were former governors Niyi Adebayo of Ekiti and James Ibori of Delta, along with Bimbo Ashiru, chairman of Oodua Group, and Seyi Oduntan, former chairman of Wemabod. Segun Senbanjo, a chieftain of the APC and Regional Director at Seymour Energy Consulting, led the family in paying final respects. In his tribute, he described his late father as “a selfless role model” who deeply valued education, discipline, and humility.
Born in 1932, Pa Senbanjo was a prince of the Fusengbuwa ruling house in Ijebu-Ode. He served in key institutions such as the Central Bank, Federal Mortgage Bank, and ITT. A devout Christian and long-standing member of the Cathedral Church of Christ, he was recognized with a 50-year service award in March 2025. He is survived by his wife, Toyin Senbanjo, eight children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
