Governor Abiodun’s Food Security Initiative Brings Relief to Ogun State Residents
Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has launched a significant initiative aimed at ensuring food security and affordability for residents of the state. Addressing stakeholders in Abeokuta, the capital city, Governor Abiodun announced the procurement of 100 trucks loaded with rice, to be sold at subsidized rates. He emphasized that this measure was intended to mitigate the impact of rising commodity prices on the populace.
Expressing empathy for the vulnerable segments of society, Governor Abiodun pledged that the rice distribution would prioritize the poor, elderly, and vulnerable, who would receive free allocations. For other residents, the rice would be available at pre-inflation prices, ensuring accessibility to essential food items despite economic challenges.
Furthermore, Governor Abiodun reassured the people of Ogun State regarding the nation’s economic stability, affirming President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s competence in managing the situation. He conveyed optimism about the effectiveness of governmental policies in addressing inflation, citing discussions with the Central Bank Governor, Mr. Yemi Cardoso, who projected a decline in the value of the dollar.
In addition to the food security initiative, Governor Abiodun highlighted other measures taken by his administration to alleviate hardship. These include financial support for tertiary students, free medical care for women and the elderly, and a commitment to civil service welfare through monthly deductions offsetting.
Urging resilience and patriotism among Nigerians, Governor Abiodun cautioned against disruptive actions, emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace and unity during challenging times.
