Governor Aiyedatiwa Pledges to Resolve Delays in Ondo Seaport Project

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fast-tracking the development of the Ondo Deep Seaport, a strategic infrastructure project designed to boost trade, investment, and economic growth in the state.
The Federal Executive Council had previously approved the operating license for the seaport under former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, but the project has faced delays due to administrative errors in the licensing documentation.
Key Updates on the Seaport Project
Speaking at a World Press Conference at Araromi Seaside, Governor Aiyedatiwa highlighted the need to rectify documentation errors, attract new investors, and finalize all regulatory requirements before construction can commence.
“An error was made in the license issuance, mistakenly listing a potential partner’s name instead of the proper entity,” Aiyedatiwa explained. “This has caused disputes and delays, but we are now in the final stages of resolving the issue and securing new investment partnerships.”
A Commitment to Infrastructure and Economic Growth
Beyond the seaport, Governor Aiyedatiwa assured residents that his administration will continue ongoing infrastructural projects, particularly road construction initiated by the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu across all 18 local government areas.
“Infrastructure development is a priority. Even within my short time in office, we have completed 60 kilometers of roads. By God’s grace, we will build more roads, maintain existing ones, and ensure continuous development across the state,” he stated.
The Ondo Deep Seaport Project is expected to enhance trade, create employment opportunities, and position Ondo State as a major hub for maritime activities in Nigeria.
Governor Aiyedatiwa remains focused on driving economic progress and ensuring that major infrastructural projects, including the seaport, reach full completion.
