Governor Hyacinth Alia has unveiled a bold and visionary 10-Year Development Plan (BSDP 2025-2034), setting a transformative course for Benue State’s growth and prosperity over the next decade. This blueprint, designed to unlock the state’s full economic potential, underscores the administration’s commitment to sustainable development, inclusive governance, and strategic investments.

A statement from the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Tersoo Kula, described the BSDP as a comprehensive roadmap aimed at tackling infrastructure deficits, economic challenges, and governance inefficiencies while ensuring equitable growth for all citizens.

With its rich agricultural resources, vast arable land, industrious population, and abundant natural endowments, Benue has immense potential to thrive as a leading economic hub in Nigeria. However, years of socioeconomic neglect have resulted in infrastructural gaps, unemployment, mismanagement, and security concerns. Governor Alia’s development blueprint is designed to address these challenges through strategic interventions, investment-friendly policies, and governance reforms.

The BSDP is built on seven key development pillars:

1. Security of Lives and Property

2. Agriculture and Rural Development

3. Commerce and Industry

4. Infrastructure Development and Environmental Sustainability

5. Human Capital Development

6. Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Advancement

7. Political and Economic Governance

These core pillars reflect Governor Alia’s strategic approach to economic revitalization, infrastructure expansion, and human capital investment, ensuring that no sector is left behind.

Governor Alia emphasized that the BSDP will serve as a guiding framework for policymakers, investors, development partners, and citizens, ensuring the state operates on a clear and measurable development trajectory.

“This plan is not just about governance; it is about laying a solid foundation for future generations,” he said. “Benue has suffered setbacks, but we are committed to reversing this trend through pragmatic, result-oriented policies.”

The document, meticulously curated by the Benue State Budget and Economic Planning Commission, highlights the administration’s commitment to evidence-based planning, transparency, and accountability.

By unveiling this ambitious plan, Governor Alia has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transformative governance, ensuring that Benue State remains on the path to economic prosperity, infrastructural advancement, and sustainable development.

The BSDP represents a new dawn for Benue State, a testament to Governor Alia’s resolve to build a stronger, more resilient, and forward-thinking state.
