Governor Aliyu Strengthens Development Strategy through Donor Partnership and Resource Coordination

Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s administration continues to build strong foundations for sustainable development in Sokoto State by fostering strategic partnerships with donor agencies and stakeholders across key sectors.
At a recent sectoral integration coordination meeting themed “Finding Joint Solutions for Effective Service Delivery in Sokoto State,” the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Abubakar Zayyana, called for greater synergy in resource utilization and planning. The goal: accelerated growth, better service delivery, and more effective governance outcomes.
Mr. Zayyana stressed that shared commitment and collaborative engagement are crucial for turning development aspirations into tangible results. “There must be synergy between the Sokoto State Government and development partners to ensure impactful outcomes for our people,” he declared.
The Commissioner emphasized that the meeting is central to aligning ministries and partners toward coordinated efforts in policy implementation, improved service delivery, and stronger institutional frameworks.
Highlighting the importance of reversing the National Bureau of Statistics’ ranking that placed Sokoto among the states with high poverty rates, Zayyana affirmed the administration’s determination to deploy strategic solutions to change the narrative.
In his remarks, the Director of International Cooperation, Musa Wamakko, reiterated the importance of unified action, noting that the meeting aimed to promote sustainable capacity transfer and increase stakeholder engagement.
Gloria Enueze, the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) Programme Officer in Sokoto, commended the initiative and assured continued UNFPA support to enhance outcomes across the health, education, and economic sectors.
Commissioners from various ministries presented their strategic development plans, reinforcing their commitment to the collaborative vision set by Governor Aliyu. The meeting concluded with a consensus on maintaining strong partnerships that ensure resources are maximized to improve the lives of Sokoto’s citizens.
