Governor Aliyu Strengthens Support for Sokoto Hisbah Board, Promotes Morality and Lawful Conduct
Sokoto State Governor, Alhaji Ahmad Aliyu, has reiterated his administration’s unwavering support for the State Hisbah Board, commending the agency for its firm role in upholding morality, order, and Islamic values.
Speaking through the Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Dr. Jabir Sani Maihula, during the destruction of 14,400 bottles of confiscated alcohol worth over ₦180 million, the Governor emphasized that the action was court-sanctioned and in line with state laws.
The exercise, which took place at the Sokoto Motor Park and Illela LGA, was hailed as a bold step in reinforcing public discipline and aligning governance with community values.
Chairman of the Hisbah Board, Dr. Rufai Usman Isma’ila, and Commandant General Malam Usman Abdullahi Jatau credited the success of the operation to the Governor’s strong backing, which has enabled the board’s re-establishment and rapid operational expansion within just seven months.
Director General Malam Nura Abdullahi Attajiri also appreciated the directive barring political interference in the board’s operations and requested the deployment of Hisbah officers across all 23 LGAs to further enhance coverage and impact.
