Governor Bago Commissions Annoor Jum’aat Mosque, Calls for Muslim Unity

Niger State Governor, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago, has commissioned the newly built Annoor Jum’aat Mosque at the Justice Idris Legbo Kutigi International Conference Center, Minna, emphasizing the importance of unity and inclusivity among Muslims.

Describing the mosque’s inauguration as historic, Governor Bago noted that relocating the facility from within Government House to a more accessible location was a strategic decision aimed at ensuring equal access for all sects of Islam.

He further announced plans to construct similar mosques in major towns across Niger State to enhance religious cohesion and accessibility.

Additionally, Governor Bago reiterated his administration’s commitment to providing food assistance during Ramadan, with subsidized food items available at 50% discount, alongside free distributions for the most vulnerable citizens.

The Etsu Nupe and Chairman of the Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Yahaya Abubakar, represented by the Emir of Agaie, Yusuf Nuhu, commended the governor’s efforts in promoting religious harmony and urged Muslims to support one another during the holy month.

In his remarks, the Director General, Bureau for Religious Affairs, Mal. Umar Faruk Abdullahi, praised Governor Bago’s dedication to Islamic propagation, highlighting that the Annoor Mosque will host Ramadan Tafsir sessions and feature scholars from various sects to foster unity.

The inauguration concluded with two-unit congregational prayers led by the Executive Secretary, Niger State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Sheikh Muhammad Awwal Aliyu. In his Jumu’aat sermon, Sheikh Aliyu reminded Muslims of the spiritual benefits of Ramadan, urging them to maximize the opportunity for worship and repentance.

Dignitaries present at the event included Deputy Governor Comrade Yakubu Garba, Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly Abdulmalik Sarkin Daji, Emir of Kagara Ahmed Garba Gunna Attahiru II, and Head of Service Abubakar Sadiq Idris, among others.

Governor Bago’s commitment to religious harmony, social welfare, and infrastructural development continues to strengthen unity and prosperity in Niger State.
