Governor Hope Uzodimma Reaffirms Commitment to Imo Workers’ Welfare, Promises Enhanced Conditions and Reforms

Governor Hope Uzodimma has reiterated his administration’s firm commitment to improving the welfare and working conditions of Imo State workers, emphasizing a renewed focus on their needs and progress.
In his address, the Governor highlighted significant milestones, including the direct and timely payment of salaries, free from political interference, a departure from previous practices. “For over 15 years, workers were denied promotions, but today, you have every reason to smile again,” he affirmed, stressing that workers are “partners in progress.” He also recalled the challenging situation in 2020, when workers’ well-being was neglected, in stark contrast to his current administration’s focus on their welfare.
The Governor outlined key initiatives, such as the ongoing reconstruction of the workers’ complex, the provision of free shuttle buses for easier commuting, and the implementation of policies aimed at improving workers’ status. He also revealed plans to introduce a special salary structure for teachers and doctors, as well as revising the Imo State Management Board law to improve healthcare and education across the state. “There will be efficient healthcare closer to every community,” the Governor stated.
He emphasized the importance of collaboration between labor leaders and the government, urging that calls for better pay must be paired with enhanced productivity. Additionally, the Governor assured that the remaining 15% of retirees’ gratuities would soon be paid and promised to purchase more shuttle buses to further ease workers’ transportation challenges. “This government is committed to your welfare,” Governor Uzodimma declared, reaffirming his administration’s dedication to progress.
The event, which featured a vibrant match-past parade and the cutting of a cake, was a testament to the government’s ongoing support for its workers and the broader community of Imo State.
