Governor Idris Empowers 300 Families with N54 Million Mass Wedding Support

In a remarkable act of generosity and social welfare, Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu) has fully settled the N54 million dowry for 300 couples in a mass wedding program organized by NANAS Foundation, the pet project of his wife, Hajiya Nafisa Nasir Idris.
The wedding ceremony, which took place at the Emir of Gwandu’s Palace in Birnin Kebbi, was graced by top dignitaries, including APC National Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who stood in as Wakili (representative) of the bridegrooms, and Emir of Gwandu, Maj.-Gen. Muhammad Iliyasu-Bashar (Rtd.), who represented the brides as Waliyi.
Governor Nasir Idris, while addressing the gathering, emphasized that beyond marriage, the initiative empowers 300 families, reinforcing his administration’s commitment to social welfare and family support.
“We are not just celebrating marriages today; we are empowering families, strengthening societal values, and promoting stability in Kebbi State,” the Governor stated
He further commended his wife for spearheading the initiative, pledging continued support to sustain the program for the benefit of the people.
The event was a demonstration of unity and generosity, with various leaders making donations to support the newlyweds. The State Government provided furniture, foodstuff, and other essentials, while the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Sen. Abubakar Atiku-Bagudu, donated N50,000 to each couple. Rep. Bello Ka’oje, member representing Bagudo/Suru Federal Constituency, contributed N20,000 and an irrigation pumping machine per couple.
Islamic scholars, including Sheik Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, Sheik Mansur Sokoto, Sheik Mansur Isa, and Sheik AbdurRahman Isa-Jega, reminded attendees of the religious and moral significance of marriage, citing Quranic teachings on assisting others in piety and righteousness.
This mass wedding initiative stands as a beacon of hope, showcasing the Governor’s commitment to fostering social stability, family values, and community empowerment.
