Governor Idris Orders Immediate Action to Protect Rice Farms in Kebbi

Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, has directed the Ministry of Agriculture to take swift action against a mysterious disease affecting rice farms in Shanga Local Government Area.
Speaking during his ‘Thank You Visit’ to the region, the Governor emphasized his commitment to safeguarding farmers’ investments and ensuring a productive agricultural season. “We have received reports of a strange disease or pests attacking rice farms. I have instructed the Commissioner for Agriculture to assess the situation, and I have approved the immediate fumigation of affected farms,” he announced.
Governor Idris assured farmers in Duggu, Gebbe, and Kukuni—major rice-producing areas—that the government would provide all necessary support to mitigate the impact of the disease.
Recognizing Shanga’s agricultural and economic significance, the Governor further pledged to expand infrastructure development by constructing additional roads in the area to boost trade and accessibility.
The Governor’s decisive response underscores his administration’s dedication to ensuring food security and agricultural sustainability in Kebbi State.
