Governor Inuwa Yahaya Strengthens Security in Gombe, Donates 50 Operational Vehicles

Gombe State is solidifying its reputation as one of Nigeria’s most peaceful states under the leadership of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON. His administration’s unwavering commitment to security has once again been demonstrated through the hosting of the 2nd Gombe State Security Summit, aimed at addressing security challenges and fostering collective action for a safer state.
The two-day summit, themed “Building a Safer and More Secure Gombe State: Addressing Insecurity through Collective Action,” brought together key stakeholders to strategize on sustainable security measures for the state and the North-East region. Governor Yahaya reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to leverage expert recommendations from the summit to develop a long-term blueprint for peace and security.
Highlighting the importance of security as the bedrock of development, Governor Yahaya emphasized that while Gombe remains relatively peaceful, challenges such as farmer-herder conflicts, communal clashes, and emerging security threats still require proactive measures. He stressed the need for collective action involving security agencies, traditional leaders, religious institutions, and civil society organizations.
As part of his administration’s commitment to enhancing security operations, Governor Yahaya announced the donation of 50 operational vehicles to security agencies across the state. This strategic intervention aims to boost their capacity in crime prevention, law enforcement, and community protection.
Commending the governor’s efforts, the General Officer Commanding, 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, Maj. Gen. Folusho Oyinlola, described Gombe as one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria. He attributed this status to Governor Yahaya’s deliberate and inclusive approach to governance, which fosters stakeholder participation in maintaining peace and stability.
The security summit featured insightful presentations from security experts, including Gen. Abdulrasheed Aliyu (rtd) on “The Role of Technology and Intelligence in Combating Security Challenges” and AIG Zubairu Mu’azu (rtd) on “The Role of Community Policing in Enhancing Local Security: A Case Study of Northern Nigeria.” These discussions provided stakeholders with a comprehensive framework for reinforcing security in the state.
In his welcome address, Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Col. Abdullahi Bello (rtd), described the summit as a milestone in Governor Yahaya’s administration, reinforcing its proactive stance on security matters. The event culminated in the official unveiling of the 50 operational vehicles, marking yet another step in Gombe’s journey toward sustained peace and security.
Governor Yahaya’s leadership continues to inspire confidence as he prioritizes security, development, and stability in Gombe. With a strategic approach to governance and a strong commitment to the safety of citizens, Gombe is setting an example of what responsible leadership can achieve in tackling security challenges.
