Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s Government Partners AATF to Launch Agricultural Transformation in Gombe

Reaffirming its agricultural development agenda, the Gombe State Government has partnered with the African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF) to advance modern farming techniques and enhance food security. This initiative was led by Deputy Governor Manassah Daniel Jatau on behalf of Governor Inuwa Yahaya.
During the high-level session with AATF, Dr. Jatau highlighted the strategic importance of agriculture in the state’s development priorities, noting that over 80% of Gombe’s population depends on farming. He welcomed the Foundation’s support in training farmers, filling the gaps left by dwindling extension services, and introducing innovation into agricultural practices.
AATF Team Leader Dr. Kayode Sanni commended the state’s proactive approach and unveiled plans to boost maize yields through drought-tolerant and pest-resistant seeds, AI, mechanisation, and remote sensing. With operations already tied to the Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Park, the partnership is set to position Gombe as an agricultural innovation hub in Nigeria.
