Governor Namadi Delivers N75,000 Cash Support to 23,000 Households in Jigawa
In a bold step towards poverty alleviation and economic empowerment, Jigawa State Governor, Mallam Umar Namadi, has flagged off the distribution of ATM cards for cash transfers to 23,000 beneficiaries across the state.
Speaking at the Dutse Local Government Secretariat, where the event was inaugurated, Governor Namadi reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting vulnerable households through targeted financial assistance. Beneficiaries will receive cash transfers ranging from N25,000 to N75,000, as part of the national cash transfer program aimed at reducing poverty and stimulating economic growth.
Highlighting the broader impact of his administration’s economic interventions, Governor Namadi revealed that over N164 billion has been disbursed to support small and medium enterprises (SMEs) through the State Youth Empowerment and Employment Agency and the COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulation program.
The Governor emphasized that this initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda, which prioritizes financial empowerment for the less privileged to enhance business sustainability and economic stability. He urged beneficiaries to use the funds wisely to uplift their families and communities.
Mustapha Umar Babura, the State Coordinator of the Cash Transfer Program, described the initiative as a breakthrough in Jigawa’s quest for sustainable economic development. He expressed gratitude for the federal government’s support in making Jigawa a model for grassroots financial inclusion.
The event was attended by thousands of beneficiaries who hailed the state and federal governments for their efforts in improving livelihoods. One of the recipients, Sadiku Iro, expressed deep appreciation, stating, “I am grateful for this support. I will invest in my business and provide for my family.” Similarly, Malama Bara’atu Tukur lauded the initiative, saying, “This cash transfer will help me pay for my children’s education and improve my farm.”
Governor Namadi’s proactive leadership continues to strengthen Jigawa’s economic resilience, with a clear focus on empowering households and fostering financial independence.
