Governor Nasir Idris Wins NUJ Good Governance Award for Transforming Education in Kebbi State
Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, has been honoured with the prestigious “Good Governance Award on Education” by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), in recognition of his administration’s outstanding achievements in the education sector. The award was presented during the 2025 NUJ Press Freedom and Good Governance Awards held in Abuja.
Represented by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed-BK, and Chief Press Secretary, Comrade Ahmed Idris, Governor Idris was praised for his visionary policies and inclusive leadership. Notably, the administration recently recruited 2,000 teachers and invested over N8.9 billion to construct and upgrade 120 secondary schools across the state—bold steps that have reshaped access to quality education for Kebbi’s future generations.
NUJ President Comrade Alhassan Yahaya emphasized that the awards were conferred on leaders who demonstrated excellence in governance and a deep commitment to national development. Also honoured were Senate President Godswill Akpabio for legislative transformation, and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani for peacebuilding and development—marking a celebration of leadership that is reshaping Nigeria’s political and development landscape.
