In a bold push to position Ebonyi State as a prime destination for eco-tourism and industrial growth, the administration of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has called for strategic partnerships to develop the iconic Amancho Cave in Owutu Edda, widely regarded as the longest cave in Africa.

Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Stanley Ogbuewu, made this appeal during a media briefing, noting the cave’s immense tourism potential. Spanning four kilometers and featuring 14 natural water fountains that serve surrounding villages, the Amancho Cave offers a unique underground experience connecting multiple communities—an unmatched treasure in Nigeria’s tourism landscape.

Hon. Ogbuewu stressed the need for international investors to join hands with the state, as developing the cave and related infrastructure would require funding in the billions. He revealed plans to construct access roads to attract investors and tourists, and further disclosed the state’s readiness to begin construction of a garment factory once funding is secured. With design work already completed and approval received from Governor Nwifuru, the commissioner said Ebonyi is open to credible partners who can help fast-track implementation.
