Governor Ododo Celebrates Cultural Unity at Ovia Osese Festival in Ogori

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to cultural heritage, peace, and unity as he attended the Ovia Osese Festival of the Ogori people on Saturday, May 3, 2025. The festival, renowned for its deep cultural symbolism and historic relevance, attracted a large crowd and featured traditional dances, music, and vibrant displays of local heritage.

Addressing attendees as the Special Guest of Honour, Governor Ododo hailed the event as a celebration of identity, generational bonds, and community strength. “Ovia Osese is not just a cultural festival; it is a celebration of who we are as a people and the sacred ties that unite us. I urge everyone to continue embracing peace and unity at all levels,” he said, commending the Ogori community for preserving their unique traditions.

Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Acharu Okpanachi, applauded the Governor for his support, describing the festival as a beacon of cultural tourism that has elevated Ogori-Magongo to a tourist destination. She emphasized that culture remains a vital tool for economic growth, peacebuilding, and social cohesion. Governor Ododo’s participation reflected his passionate advocacy for cultural pride and inclusive governance in Kogi State.
