Governor Ododo Orders Immediate Upgrade of PAAU Teaching Hospital for Medical Expansion

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has directed an immediate assessment and upgrade of the Teaching Hospital at Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, in preparation for the launch of its Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) program.
This directive was conveyed by Kogi State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abdulazeez Adams Adeiza, during an official visit to the College of Health Sciences and the Teaching Hospital.
Governor Ododo’s vision aligns with his administration’s commitment to addressing the shortage of medical professionals in Kogi State by producing more qualified doctors and healthcare personnel.
Dr. Adeiza emphasized that the expansion of medical programs builds on the foundation laid by former Governor Yahaya Bello, who oversaw the construction of a state-of-the-art clinical complex at the university’s teaching hospital.
Under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Marietu Tenuche, the university has successfully introduced key allied health science programs, including Anatomy, Physiology, Pharmacology, Nursing Science, and Medical Laboratory Science.
With this upgrade, Prince Abubakar Audu University will become the third medical degree-awarding institution in Kogi State, significantly enhancing healthcare education, expanding research opportunities, and improving medical services across the region.
Dr. Adeiza assured stakeholders that the state government will spare no effort in ensuring the smooth accreditation and full commencement of the MBBS program, paving the way for a new era of medical excellence in Kogi State.
