Governor Ododo Supports Dekina Community with Swift Emergency Response and Aid

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has demonstrated strong leadership by prioritizing the needs of communities affected by the recent windstorm in Dekina Local Government Area. The Kogi State Emergency Management Agency (KOSEMA), under the leadership of Executive Secretary Alhaji Mouktar Atimah, visited the impacted areas to assess the situation and determine the necessary interventions.

The assessment team, led by Alhaji Atimah, visited the Dekina Township and Agojeju Ajocheji community, where over 800 individuals were affected by the devastating windstorm. Properties worth over 200 million naira were lost. During the visit, Alhaji Mouktar Atimah met with the Ejeh of Dekina, Alhaji Usman Obaji, a prominent leader who is also the Chairman of the Dekina Traditional Council. The Governor’s proactive measures were lauded by the traditional ruler, who expressed gratitude for the swift response to the crisis.

Alhaji Usman Obaji, in his address, emphasized the importance of collaboration between the state government and the traditional institutions, highlighting the significance of such partnerships in disaster management. The Ejeh also called for continued assistance for the affected victims, which was echoed by other stakeholders in the community.

During the visit, the SEMA team, which included key officials like Mr. Siaka Sunday and Mr. Richardson Edimeh, thoroughly evaluated the damage and identified areas that needed immediate attention. The visit concluded with a heartfelt gesture of royal blessings from the Ejeh of Dekina, symbolizing the strong bond between the government and the community.

Governor Ododo’s response to the windstorm reflects his administration’s commitment to ensuring that citizens are protected and supported during emergencies. The state government has pledged to provide the necessary aid to help the affected communities rebuild and recover, ensuring that their suffering is alleviated and normalcy is restored as soon as possible.
