Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has called on the state’s intending Christian pilgrims to conduct themselves with exemplary behavior and uphold the values of their faith while in Jordan and Israel.

Speaking at a one-day orientation seminar for the 2023/2024 Christian Pilgrimage, organized by the Kogi State Christian Pilgrims Commission in Lokoja, Governor Ododo, represented by his Deputy, Comrade Joel Salifu, emphasized that pilgrimage is a spiritual journey, not a mere excursion. He urged the pilgrims to act as good ambassadors of Kogi State and avoid any form of misconduct, including defection or absconding.

The Governor encouraged the pilgrims to pray for Nigeria’s restoration and divine intervention while in the Holy Land. He assured them of the government’s continued support for religious activities and expressed confidence that their journey would be both fulfilling and spiritually uplifting.

Executive Chairman of the Kogi Christian Pilgrimage Commission, Chief Christopher Ayo Olubunmi, commended Governor Ododo’s longstanding support for pilgrimage sponsorship, noting that as a civil servant, he had personally sponsored Christian pilgrims and was now poised to do more as Governor.

A major highlight of the event was the decoration of Governor Ododo and his Deputy as the First and Second Pilgrimage Ambassadors of Kogi State, a recognition of their commitment to promoting faith-based initiatives.

Governor Ododo’s administration remains committed to supporting religious programs, fostering spiritual renewal, and ensuring that Kogi pilgrims have a safe and meaningful pilgrimage experience.
