Governor Okpebholo Seeks Prayers for Peace and Progress in Edo State

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has called on religious communities to continue offering prayers for the peace, unity, and success of his administration as it charts a new course for development across the State.
The Governor, represented by his Chief of Staff, Hon. Gani Audu, made the call during a special intercessory prayer session organized by the Coalition of Muslim APC Women at the Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub in Benin City.
“I believe in the power of prayer,” Governor Okpebholo said. “Please continue to pray for the success of this government. Pray that we have the resources and wisdom to fulfill our promises to the people of Edo.”
The event brought together female Muslim leaders and supporters in a collective show of spiritual solidarity. The Governor’s wife, Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani, also addressed the gathering, emphasizing prayer as a unifying force for families, communities, and the nation.
“Prayer binds us together,” she said. “When women gather to pray, change happens. I have seen firsthand the power of collective prayer, and I commend this initiative for the spiritual strength it brings to our state.”
Mrs. Anani encouraged continued spiritual growth, unity, and mutual support among residents, stating that community strength is rooted in compassion, faith, and shared responsibility. “Whatever affects one of us affects all of us. We must lift each other up and build a stronger, more compassionate Edo.”
Leader of the Coalition, Hajia Salimat Momodu, described the prayer session as a sacred call for divine guidance, wisdom for leadership, and protection for all citizens of Edo and Nigeria. “We are here today not just as mothers and women of faith, but as citizens committed to the peace and progress of our state,” she said.
Dignitaries in attendance included Chief Bisi Idaomi, Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development; Hajia Nimata Umar Ikhilor, wife of the Secretary to the State Government; Mrs. Betty Okoebor, APC State Women Leader; and various traditional and community leaders.
The event underscored the Governor’s inclusive leadership approach and the administration’s commitment to fostering peace, unity, and collective progress across religious and cultural lines.
