Governor Okpebholo’s SHINE Agenda Inspires N6.86 Billion People-Centered Budget in Akoko-Edo
The Chairman of Akoko-Edo Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. Alabi Bliss Oshionogue, has presented the Council’s 2025 Draft Estimates to the Legislative Arm, reinforcing his administration’s alignment with the SHINE Agenda of Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo.
The proposed budget, themed the “2025 People’s Budget,” totals ₦6.86 billion and is designed to deepen ongoing development projects and drive local economic growth. It allocates funds for critical areas including agriculture (fertilizers, farm equipment, livestock), infrastructure (transformers, solar panels, road asphalting), and industry (support for small and medium enterprises). Notably, 23.36% of the budget is earmarked for education, healthcare, skills acquisition, and judicial infrastructure.
Rt. Hon. Oshionogue praised Governor Okpebholo for creating an enabling environment for grassroots development. He emphasized that his administration remains committed to reshaping Akoko-Edo in line with the state’s broader transformation agenda. In response, the Leader of the Legislative Arm, Rt. Hon. Nicholas Akosile Imashimi, pledged swift legislative support to ensure the implementation of life-changing projects across the LGA.
