Governor Otu Defends Public Assets with Strategic Land Recovery in Ogoja

In a firm move to protect public interest, the Cross River State Government, under the leadership of Governor Bassey Edet Otu, has intensified its land recovery efforts in Ogoja, targeting illegally occupied government properties. The inspection, led by Special Adviser Barr. Gilbert Agbor and supported by zonal officials, revealed widespread encroachment across key public lands.
Speaking after touring sites including Crown Lands, Doctors’ Quarters, and Ministry of Agriculture properties, Barr. Agbor described the situation as “alarming and unacceptable.” He ordered immediate action, including the demolition of illegal structures and the compilation of a verified inventory of all government lands for proper documentation and follow-up. “We will not allow enemies of progress to hijack resources meant for public good,” he asserted.
This proactive intervention aligns with Governor Otu’s “People First” philosophy, promoting transparency and responsible asset use. Community stakeholders, including Mrs. Felicia Eweh of the Ministry of Education, applauded the effort, noting it will curb further encroachment and restore order. The Ogoja operation underscores the governor’s commitment to reform, accountability, and ensuring government property benefits all Cross Riverians.
