Governor Oyebanji Applauds OAU’s Legacy of Academic Excellence

…Reaffirms Commitment to Supporting Higher Education Development
Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has commended Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, for its long-standing reputation for academic excellence, groundbreaking research, and infrastructural development.
Speaking in Ado-Ekiti during a courtesy visit by members of the university’s Governing Council, led by Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Prof. Siyan Oyeweso, Governor Oyebanji praised OAU for its significant contributions to education and national development over the years.
“OAU has consistently upheld the glory of academic excellence, producing outstanding leaders who have made remarkable contributions to our nation. The university remains a beacon of knowledge, innovation, and intellectual growth,” the governor stated.
He called on alumni, corporate organizations, and government agencies to support the university’s development agenda, emphasizing that strategic partnerships would help sustain its global reputation.
In response, Prof. Oyeweso acknowledged the governor’s commitment to education in Ekiti State, particularly his administration’s strides in improving infrastructure, teachers’ welfare, and student performance. He urged Governor Oyebanji to extend similar support to OAU, noting that enhanced collaboration would further strengthen the university’s research capacity and infrastructure.
The meeting was attended by key government officials, including Chief of Staff Mr. Niyi Adebayo, Commissioner for Education Dr. Adebimpe Aderiye, Special Adviser on Tertiary Education Prof. Akeem Azeez, and Vice-Chancellor of OAU, Prof. Adebayo Bamire, along with other top university officials.
Governor Oyebanji reiterated his administration’s commitment to education, pledging continued collaboration with institutions like OAU to drive academic and research excellence in Nigeria.
