Governor Radda Accelerates Progress for Federal University of Health Sciences, Funtua

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has made significant strides in ensuring the timely establishment of the Federal University of Health Sciences in Funtua. During a visit by officials from the Federal Ministry of Education, led by Hajiya Rakiya Gambo Ilyasu, Director of Universities Education, Governor Radda highlighted the importance of the university to the entire Northwest region.

Governor Radda emphasized that the university’s location in Funtua, strategically positioned in the heart of the Northwest, would serve not only Katsina but also neighboring states such as Kebbi, Sokoto, Kano, Jigawa, and Kaduna. The Governor took proactive measures by allocating a secondary school for immediate use, investing over ₦2 billion in renovations, and acquiring an additional 50 hectares of land to facilitate the university’s development.

The Governor expressed confidence that student admissions will begin by September 2025, with all necessary infrastructure to be completed by June 2025. He thanked the Federal Ministry of Education and the local community for their unwavering support, highlighting that this university would attract students from across Nigeria and neighboring countries, contributing to regional and national development.

Hajiya Rakiya Gambo Ilyasu commended Governor Radda’s leadership, stating that his passionate commitment to the project has set a historic precedent in ensuring the success of the university. “This is one of the few instances where we have seen such dedication to higher education,” she remarked, emphasizing that Governor Radda’s efforts will be remembered for generations to come.
