Governor Radda Allocates N5 Billion to Affordable Housing for Katsina Residents

In a bold move to address housing needs and enhance urban development, Governor Dikko Umar Radda’s administration has earmarked N5 billion for the construction of affordable housing units across Katsina State.
General Manager of the Katsina State Housing Authority, Mr. Aliyu Rabiu-Kurfi, disclosed that N2.5 billion will be used to construct 100 housing units in the state capital, while additional funds may be allocated for site preparation and infrastructure development. He explained that the state government is exploring a model where private developers and individuals can also participate in home construction projects.
Governor Radda has introduced the Katsina State Housing Policy 2024, which serves as a cornerstone for sustainable housing programs, ensuring that civil servants, low-income earners, and private individuals have access to affordable homes.
Since its creation in 1987, Katsina has witnessed significant investments in housing estates across multiple districts, including Batagarawa, Kofar Marusa, Goruba, Daura, and Funtua. Many of these estates have been allocated to civil servants and private individuals, contributing to the state’s urban expansion.
While some beneficiaries are still owing a combined N2 billion in payments to the state government, officials reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to ensuring full compliance with payment structures while making homeownership more accessible.
Governor Radda’s investment in affordable housing aligns with his administration’s vision of enhancing residents’ quality of life and promoting sustainable urban planning.
