Governor Sanwo-Olu Advances Inclusive Governance Through LASODA’s Transparent Procurement Drive

In a remarkable show of leadership and commitment to inclusive governance, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration has endorsed a new phase of transparency and accessibility in public procurement through the Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA). The agency has inaugurated a dedicated Planning Committee and initiated sensitisation on procurement protocols, ensuring strict adherence to regulatory standards while advancing inclusion.
Speaking at a session with the Procurement Process Review Committee, the General Manager of LASODA, Mrs. Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, reaffirmed the agency’s pledge to uphold transparency and the rule of law in its operations. She stressed that only contractors registered with the Lagos State Government would be engaged, thereby guaranteeing full compliance with legal procurement frameworks.
“We are committed to judicious use of government resources and ensuring our procurement system promotes equity and inclusivity,” she said. “Through Governor Sanwo-Olu’s leadership, we are embedding accessibility into governance and economic participation.”
Her statement received strong endorsement from the Director-General of the Lagos State Public Procurement Agency, Mr. Fatai Idowu Onafowote, who commended LASODA for taking a proactive approach. He described the agency’s efforts as a model for other MDAs, noting that inclusive procurement enhances value for money and boosts public trust in governance.
Mr. Onafowote further tasked LASODA’s finance team to meticulously deduct statutory fees from awarded contracts to ensure transparency and accuracy in reporting. He lauded the Director of Procurement at LASODA, Mr. Yomi Oluniyi, for championing awareness and implementation of the Special People’s Law within the agency’s procurement processes. This inclusive initiative is a testament to Governor Sanwo-Olu’s broader vision for a Lagos where governance reflects compassion, equity, and professionalism. The move not only aligns with international best practices but also positions Lagos State as a leading advocate of disability-inclusive development in Nigeria.
