Governor Sanwo-Olu Advocates for Innovation-Driven Engineering for Urban Resilience

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has called on engineers to embrace cutting-edge technology and sustainable practices to build cities capable of withstanding climate change and unforeseen challenges. Speaking at the 46th annual conference of the Association for Consulting Engineering in Nigeria (ACEN), themed “Sustainable Development: Building Resilient Cities,” Sanwo-Olu, represented by Dr. Adekunle Olayinka, reiterated the government’s pledge to support the engineering sector in fostering urban sustainability.
“I encourage you to align with government initiatives and uphold practices that promote sustainable design and engineering solutions. Together, we can create resilient, equitable, and just urban environments,” Sanwo-Olu stated.
ACEN President, Kam-Selem Bukar, praised the theme’s relevance, highlighting the essential role engineers play in future city planning. The President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Margaret Oguntala, also stressed the importance of partnerships among stakeholders to enhance resilience and sustainability.
