Governor Sanwo-Olu Flags Off 2025 Hajj Operations as 388 Lagos Pilgrims Depart for Saudi Arabia

The Lagos State Government has officially commenced its 2025 Hajj operations with the successful airlifting of the first batch of 388 intending pilgrims to Madinah, Saudi Arabia. The inaugural flight, operated by FLYNAS airline, departed the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, at 5:42 pm on Monday, May 12, carrying 167 males and 221 females.

Commissioner for Home Affairs and Amir-ul-Hajj, Hon. Olanrewaju Ibrahim Layode, led top officials including NAHCON Commissioner for Operations, Prince Anofiu Elegushi, and members of the Hajj Central Working Committee to bid farewell to the pilgrims. Hon. Layode emphasized the Sanwo-Olu administration’s commitment to the comfort and spiritual welfare of pilgrims, citing initiatives like free medical screenings across 10 zones of the state.

The Amir urged the pilgrims to uphold discipline and represent Lagos and Nigeria with dignity while in the Kingdom. Prince Elegushi reiterated NAHCON’s resolve to surpass the success of previous pilgrimages. The Board Secretary, Mr. AbdulHakeem Ajomagberin, confirmed that airlifting would continue until Saturday, May 17, in line with NAHCON’s schedule.
