Governor Sule to Recruit 1,500 Secondary School Teachers, Warns Against LG Staff Redundancy

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to quality education with the announcement of a fresh recruitment process to engage 1,500 qualified secondary school teachers. This expansion comes in response to the failed recruitment attempt by the former Teachers Service Commission, which was marred by irregularities.
Speaking during the inauguration of new board members for NSUBEB and the Local Government Service Commission, Governor Sule revealed that a reputable external consultant has been engaged to independently screen over 3,000 applicants to ensure merit-based recruitment. “This process is about competence, not favoritism. We want qualified teachers with the right skills to educate our future generations,” he stated.
The Governor also addressed the issue of redundancy within local government councils, decrying the growing culture of absenteeism and low productivity. He directed the new LG Service Commission chairman, Mustapha Aliyu, to enforce accountability and ensure optimal staff deployment. He emphasized that full local government financial autonomy must be matched with transparent manpower management to spur grassroots development.
