Governor Uba Sani Honored with Doctorate Degree in Entrepreneurship by FUT Minna

Governor Uba Sani has been conferred with an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Entrepreneurship (Honoris Causa) by the Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMINNA) at its 33rd Convocation Ceremony. The award recognizes his exceptional contributions to entrepreneurship and economic development in Kaduna State and beyond.
In the same ceremony, Governor Umar Bago of Niger State was honored with a Doctorate in Agriculture (Honoris Causa), while Senator Mohammed Sani Musa received a Doctorate in Technology (Honoris Causa).
Speaking after the conferment, Governor Uba Sani commended FUTMINNA for its commitment to technological education, emphasizing its motto, “Technology for Empowerment.” He praised the institution’s role in shaping Nigeria’s industrial and technological future by nurturing young talents.
A Call for Increased Investment in Research and Development (R&D)
Governor Sani used the platform to urge policymakers at all levels to prioritize Research and Development (R&D), noting that leading global economies invest heavily in innovation and technology.
“We must prioritize institutions like FUTMINNA, as they hold the key to our technological advancement. Our researchers are creative, innovative, and dedicated, but funding remains a significant challenge,” he emphasized.
Kaduna’s Commitment to Entrepreneurship and Skill Development
Governor Sani highlighted his administration’s efforts in human capital development, particularly in education, skills acquisition, and entrepreneurship. Key initiatives include:
• Establishment of Three Vocational and Technological Skills Acquisition Cities, set to train at least 12,000 youths annually.
• Remodeling of Panteka Market, transforming it into an international hub for artisans and skills training, benefiting over 38,000 workers.
• Strategic collaboration with FUTMINNA to explore technical partnerships, knowledge exchange, and capacity building for Kaduna’s institutions.
A Humbling Honor and Future Collaboration
Governor Sani expressed gratitude to the Governing Council, Senate, Management, and Staff of FUTMINNA for the recognition, pledging to strengthen collaboration between Kaduna State and the institution.
“I am deeply honored by this award and will continue to champion policies that empower entrepreneurs, foster innovation, and drive sustainable development,” he stated.
He also extended congratulations to his fellow honorees and the graduating students, encouraging them to pursue excellence and contribute meaningfully to society.
