In a commendable gesture to recognize the dedication of political appointees, party executives, government officials, and law enforcement officers, Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has allocated plots of land to these individuals. This initiative, as stated by Dr. Bashir Garba, the Director-General of the State Geographic Information Service (KADGIS), is aimed at appreciating their hard work and commitment to the state’s progress.

The land allocation includes long-awaited plots and selections from applicants who had applied for direct allocations between 2020 and 2024, totaling 5,453 plots across various locations in the state. In light of current economic challenges, the governor has also approved reductions in penalties and regularization charges to facilitate land ownership. This includes a 15% discount on ground rent for early payments, installment payment options for those with high debts, and a 20% discount for advance payments covering five years.

To enhance land acquisition and development, new layouts have been established, and the regularization of 25 urban areas is underway. Furthermore, the Kaduna State Government is digitizing KADGIS operations to expedite the processing of titles, aiming to produce 200 certificates of occupancy weekly. The governor’s administration has successfully resolved 347 farmland disputes, providing alternative plots to 203 claimants, while also introducing a framework to integrate existing settlements into new layouts to prevent future conflicts.

Garba assured clients of improved services, including accessible payment options and enhanced security for public documents, indicating a commitment to making land ownership more affordable and efficient for all residents.
