Governor Uzodimma Advocates for Hydro-Power Plant to Boost Imo’s Water Supply

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has proposed the establishment of a 10-megawatt hydro-power plant to ensure seamless access to potable water for residents in the state.

During a meeting with Engr. Joseph Teriumun, the Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation at the Government House in Owerri, Governor Uzodimma emphasized that the proposed power plant would alleviate water scarcity issues. He also sought the minister’s support in completing ongoing water projects in the state.

Expressing gratitude for the visit, Governor Uzodimma lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s efforts in revitalizing the nation’s economy. He commended the minister for actively engaging with parastatals and agencies under his ministry, particularly regarding Imo State’s concerns.

Teriumun outlined the purpose of their visit, focusing on assessing projects and programs undertaken by the ministry through the Anambra/Imo River Basin Development Authority in various states, including Imo.

Highlighting the ministry’s intervention projects covering water supply, irrigation schemes, dams, sanitation facilities, and erosion control structures in Imo and neighboring states, Teriumun reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to addressing water-related challenges in the region.
