Governor Uzodimma Backs National Drive to Cultivate Young Agricultural Leaders in Imo
As part of a national initiative to nurture the next generation of agricultural innovators, Imo State played host to the Young Farmers Seminar on May 13, 2025, in Owerri. The event was powered by the Renewed Hope Initiative led by the First Lady of Nigeria, Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, with active support from the Imo State Government.
The seminar targeted students from selected secondary schools across Imo State, aiming to foster early interest in modern agriculture through the creation of Young Farmers Clubs. Facilitated by agricultural experts, the training introduced students to contemporary farming methods and peer-led agricultural outreach models.
The program, which is being implemented across all 36 states and the FCT, seeks to build a new wave of young, entrepreneurial farmers with hands-on training, mentorship, and empowerment support. Governor Hope Uzodimma’s administration remains a firm supporter of agricultural education as a pathway to youth empowerment, food security, and long-term economic growth.
