Governor Uzodimma Commends Youths for Championing Peace and Security in Imo

Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has lauded the courage and patriotism of thousands of Imo youths who participated in the ‘Run for Peace’ Marathon, organized to promote unity and stability across the state. The event, held in Owerri, was flagged off at the Government House Roundabout by the Governor, alongside federal and state legislators and top government officials.
Speaking at the event, Governor Uzodimma praised the youth for rejecting violence and embracing peace, noting that their collective stand has played a vital role in repositioning Imo as a safe and attractive destination for investment and tourism. “Their commitment to peace is not only inspiring, it is transformative,” he said.
The Commissioner for Youth Development and Talent Hunt, Dr. Emeka Ukaegbu, reiterated that over 2,000 youths took part in the marathon—a testament to their passion for peace. Winners were rewarded with N500,000 each, while 20 others received consolation prizes. The event reaffirmed Governor Uzodimma’s unwavering support for youth-driven peacebuilding in Imo.
