Imo State Government Rescues Trafficked Girls in Ghana

In a commendable display of swift action and commitment, the Imo State Government has successfully rescued a group of young girls from Imo State who were victims of human trafficking in Ghana. The distressing situation came to light after a video surfaced online, showing the plight of these trafficked girls, sparking widespread concern.
Governor Hope Uzodimma, upon learning of this grave occurrence, expressed profound displeasure and immediately mobilized a rescue team to Ghana. The team, led by Deputy Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chyna Iwuanyanwu, included the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hon. Mrs. Nkechi Ugwu, among others.
The operation, carried out with crucial support from the Nigerian Embassy in Ghana, was a significant success. The team expressed deep appreciation to the embassy officials for their cooperation, which was instrumental in ensuring the safe return of the young girls.
