Jigawa State has recorded a remarkable milestone in its revenue generation drive, pulling in over ₦8 billion in the first quarter of 2025, according to the Chairman of the Jigawa State Internal Revenue Service (JIRS), Dr. Nasiru Saboda. The feat, he said, was made possible through the steadfast leadership of Governor Malam Umar Namadi and the full implementation of digital revenue systems.

Speaking during a two-day town hall and capacity-building workshop organized for CSOs and market groups, Dr. Saboda emphasized that the agency’s digital reforms and transparency measures have boosted public trust and efficiency. In April alone, Jigawa generated over ₦3 billion—an all-time high for a single month in the state.

The workshop also fostered strategic dialogue on tax justice and accountability, with civil society and market associations exploring ways to strengthen citizen engagement in revenue systems. With this strong start to the year, Jigawa is clearly positioning itself as a leader in internally generated revenue, anchored on innovation and inclusive governance.
