Jigawa Leads in Clean Energy Transition with N132 Million CNG Training Center

In a major push toward clean energy and sustainable transportation, the Jigawa State Government has invested N132 million to establish a state-of-the-art Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) training center in Dutse.
Announcing this at the opening of a ‘Train-the-Trainers’ workshop on CNG vehicle conversion, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Power and Energy, Engineer Musa Al’assan Arobade, revealed that the state government would soon award contracts for converting 25 vehicles from petrol to CNG.
This pioneering initiative is part of Governor Umar Namadi’s commitment to energy security, environmental sustainability, and economic diversification. By promoting CNG-powered vehicles, the administration aims to reduce dependence on fossil fuels while fostering cleaner transportation alternatives.
As part of this transition, the state government has sponsored the training of 20 specialists in vehicle conversion techniques, ensuring that Jigawa develops local expertise in the emerging field. Beneficiaries of the training will be selected from the Ministry of Power and Energy and the Jigawa State chapter of the Association of Automobile Technicians.
Engineer Al’assan reaffirmed that the state government remains dedicated to advancing renewable energy solutions, enhancing economic opportunities, and positioning Jigawa as a leader in Nigeria’s clean energy revolution.
Governor Umar Namadi’s investment in CNG infrastructure and capacity-building is setting Jigawa apart as a front-runner in Nigeria’s energy transition, with tangible benefits for businesses, transporters, and the environment.
