Kogi AGILE Project Strengthens School Safety Framework in Stakeholder Dialogue

The Kogi State Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project has taken a significant step toward enhancing school safety through a comprehensive security assessment and planning session held in Lokoja. The engagement brought together key security and education stakeholders to discuss measures that ensure safe learning environments for adolescent girls and staff across participating schools.
Project Lead, Prof. Shakiru Odunuga, stated that the meeting was aimed at reinforcing the security framework critical to the successful implementation of AGILE across Kogi State. He noted that the safety of students, infrastructure, and personnel is central to the project’s mission to promote access to quality education in an inclusive and protected environment.
The session drew representatives from the Nigerian Army, Police, NSCDC, FRSC, and school principals from all three senatorial districts. Their collective input formed the basis of a robust security management plan tailored to local realities. The AGILE team emphasized the importance of community support and stakeholder engagement in safeguarding the educational future of girls in the state—a priority aligned with Governor Ododo’s education reform agenda.
