The Kogi State Government has significantly increased potable water supply in Lokoja, doubling daily production from 1 million to 2 million liters, addressing long-standing water scarcity issues.

During an inspection of the Old Lokoja Waterworks and supply channels, Commissioner for Water Resources, Engr. Faruk Yahaya, confirmed:

• Upgraded infrastructure has enhanced water distribution

• Strategic interventions have raised daily production capacity

• Plans are in place to rehabilitate the Greater Lokoja Waterworks

Despite these improvements, Yahaya urged residents to maintain their service lines, warning that:

• Some residents neglect broken pipes, increasing water loss

• The government may cut off supply to areas failing to repair their connections

The government is collaborating with the Ministry of Environment to ensure water quality and sustainable access.

Residents expressed gratitude for the restoration of stable water supply, hailing it as a long-awaited breakthrough that would ease daily struggles and reduce reliance on private vendors.

With continued investments, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s administration is committed to ensuring uninterrupted and sustainable water supply across Kogi State.
