Kogi L-PRES Equips Officers with Alternative Livestock Feed Training on High-Quality Cassava Peel (HQCP)

The Kogi State Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) has launched a five-day intensive training on the utilization of High-Quality Cassava Peel (HQCP) as a sustainable alternative livestock feed.
Speaking at the event, State Coordinator of L-PRES, Otaru Abdulkabir Onoruoyiza, emphasized that the training:
• Promotes local content in livestock feed production
• Reduces feeding costs and enhances small ruminant farming
• Aligns with global best practices in agriculture
The training, held in Ibadan, is a collaboration between Kogi L-PRES and the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI). Participants include:
• Eight L-PRES staff
• Eight Livestock Extension Agents
• Two Agricultural Equipment Fabricators/Vendors
Upon completion, trainees will step down the training to 1,500 livestock farmers across Kogi, ensuring widespread adoption of HQCP technology.
Representing the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Engineer Abdulsalam Sagir, encouraged participants to maximize the opportunity and drive livestock development in the state.
This initiative positions Kogi as a leader in sustainable livestock farming, leveraging its status as Nigeria’s largest cassava producer.
