KWACReSAL Evaluates Project Impact Across Key Ministries

0

As part of its monitoring and evaluation efforts, the Kwara Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (KWACReSAL) project has hosted a team of consultants from ACReSAL’s Federal Project Management Unit to assess the impact of its interventions across key government ministries.

The evaluation focused on three key MDAs—the Ministries of Environment, Water Resources, and Agriculture & Rural Development—to ensure compliance with Component C1, which emphasizes institutional strengthening.

State Commissioner for Environment, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge, who also serves as Chairman of the State Steering Committee, highlighted the significant benefits of the project, including:

• Provision of Hilux vehicles and ICT equipment to enhance operational efficiency.

• Distribution of tractors to support farmers across 16 Local Government Areas.

• Energy-saving cooking stoves distributed to rural women to promote environmental sustainability.

• Motorcycles for extension agents to improve rural outreach.

• Public sensitization campaigns on environmental sustainability and agricultural best practices.

The consultants, led by Dr. Paul Andrew Gwaza and Dr. Akintunde Akinmolayan, stated that the assessment would help evaluate project impact, encourage the State Project Management Unit (SPMU) to do more, and attract further technical and financial support.

Local government officials and community leaders also commended KWACReSAL for improving livelihoods, food security, and environmental conservation in the state.
