The Kwara State Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon. Usman Yunusa Lade, has commended the Kwara Agro-Climatic Resilience and Semi-Arid Landscapes (KWACReSAL) Project for its commitment to enhancing water infrastructure in the state. This commendation follows the project’s provision of a brand-new Hilux vehicle to the ministry, ensuring smooth monitoring of waterworks across the state.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Christiana Omolola Asonibare, the Commissioner made the remarks on Monday while receiving a team of consultants from the Federal Project Management Unit of ACReSAL, Abuja. He expressed gratitude for their visit, emphasizing that the project’s interventions have significantly improved the ministry’s operational capacity.

In their contributions, Mrs. Maryam Ishola, Director of Personnel, Finance, and Supply, and Engr. Yusuf Wopa, Director of Water Engineering Services, appealed to the team for sensitization campaigns on the dangers of bush burning and deforestation. They also urged support for the establishment of standard laboratories to enhance service delivery.

Speaking on behalf of the ACReSAL team, Mr. Paul Andrew Gwaza praised the ministry for its cooperation and commitment to sustainable water management. He reaffirmed that ACReSAL, a World Bank-assisted project, aims to promote sustainable landscape management practices in Nigeria and ensures that states maximize the benefits of its interventions.

Mr. Gwaza encouraged the Kwara State Ministry of Water Resources to continue utilizing the support effectively, assuring that proper implementation could attract further opportunities at the federal level.
