Kwara Government Urges Tertiary Institutions to Prioritize Research and Innovation

The Kwara State Government has called on heads of tertiary institutions to prioritize impactful research, proactive administration, and excellence in service delivery to drive higher education advancement in the state.
The Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Dr. (Mrs.) Mary Arinde, made this call during a meeting with the leadership of state-owned tertiary institutions at the Ministry’s Conference Hall in Ilorin. She emphasized that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration expects increased productivity and innovation, considering the substantial investments in the education sector.
Dr. Arinde assured that the state government is actively monitoring progress and evaluating institutional performance to ensure that its investments translate into tangible academic and developmental outcomes. She pledged to address challenges faced by tertiary institutions while urging them to generate new ideas that would contribute to Kwara’s overall development.
During the meeting, the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of the Kwara State University of Education, Professor Salman Medinat, was formally introduced. The Commissioner expressed confidence in her leadership and commended the collaborative efforts of tertiary institutions in strengthening higher education in the state.
Prof. Mukaila Aremu, Chairman of the Heads of Tertiary Institutions and Provost of Kwara State College of Education, Oro, appreciated the state government’s interventions, particularly in health services, and urged continued support.
In her vote of thanks, Barr. Sabitiyu Grillo, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tertiary Education, commended the heads of institutions for maintaining high academic standards and fostering a conducive learning environment in Kwara State.
