Kwara Launches Livestock Agribusiness to Empower Youth and Corps Members

Kwara State is rolling out a transformative livestock entrepreneurship programme aimed at empowering youth and corps members with practical skills and funding to thrive in agribusiness. Commissioner for Livestock Development, Mrs. Oloruntoyosi Thomas, announced the initiative during a visit to the NYSC Orientation Camp in Yikpata, Tsaragi District.
The programme, scheduled to begin in Q4 2025, is being implemented in partnership with the NYSC and private sector stakeholders. Participants will receive three months of intensive training in livestock production, business development, and access to finance, followed by starter packs to launch their ventures. The initiative reflects Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s vision of turning Kwara into a hub of agricultural innovation and youth-led enterprise.
NYSC State Coordinator, Mr. Onifade Olaoluwa Joshua, welcomed the collaboration and expressed readiness to support the programme. The Commissioner also visited the Etsu Tsaragi, who gave royal blessings for the initiative. The Kwara Youth Livestock Empowerment Programme is set to become a model for youth-driven development, linking skills to sustainable livelihoods across the state.
