Kwara State Government Assesses Gbugbu International Market To Enhance Commercial Activities

The Kwara State Government has conducted an assessment of facilities at the Gbugbu International Market in Edu Local Government Area, as part of efforts to optimize trade and enhance economic activities.
During the visit, the Commissioner for Business, Innovation, and Technology, Hon. Damilola Yusuf Adelodun, commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for investing in critical infrastructure that supports commerce and industrialization. He urged traders to maintain cleanliness and adhere to proper space allocation to promote efficiency.
To improve organization within the market, Hon. Adelodun recommended structuring traders into designated zones based on product categories, such as grains and textiles. He also encouraged the unification of all Traders’ Associations to streamline operations and improve coordination.
The Chairman of Kwara Internal Revenue Service (KW-IRS), Engr. (Mrs.) Shade Omoniyi, emphasized the need for proper market management to maximize revenue generation for the state, urging all stakeholders to leverage the market’s strategic location for economic growth.
During a courtesy visit to the Emir of Lafiagi, Alhaji Mohammed Kudu Kawu, the traditional ruler commended the Governor’s commitment to local economic development. He also appealed for the rehabilitation of the Lafiagi Daily Market, emphasizing its potential to further boost commerce in the region.
With these assessments and policy interventions, the Kwara State Government is reinforcing its commitment to supporting small businesses, expanding trade opportunities, and ensuring that markets function as economic growth hubs.
