In a strategic move to enhance food security, livestock development, and transportation infrastructure, the Kwara State Executive Council has approved the creation of two new ministries, marking another milestone in Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s commitment to efficient governance and economic development.

The decision, taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by the Governor, was presented by the Acting Head of Service, Alhaji Ibrahim Muhammed, as part of the state’s restructuring strategy to improve service delivery and align with emerging developmental needs.

The new Ministry of Livestock Development has been carved out of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, with a specific focus on large-scale livestock farming across Kwara’s 16 local government areas. The ministry will support farmers, herders, processors, and distributors within the livestock value chain, ensuring sustainable agricultural development.

Similarly, the council approved the creation of the Ministry of Transportation, previously under the Ministry of Works and Transport. This will establish a more effective and well-organized transportation system, optimizing the state’s expanding road and public transport network. Additionally, the Kwara State Road Traffic Management Agency (KWARTMA) will now operate under the Ministry of Transportation for improved coordination.

With these changes, Kwara State now has 22 ministries, up from 20, reflecting Governor AbdulRazaq’s vision of streamlined governance and better service delivery.
