The Lagos State Government has debunked claims suggesting that 30 percent of its employees failed to return after attending government-sponsored overseas training. Commissioner for Establishments and Training, Mr. Afolabi Ayantayo, clarified that the referenced individuals were not government-sponsored trainees but those who proceeded on personal study leave without pay.

Speaking in response to media interpretations of his earlier comments during a ministerial briefing, Ayantayo emphasized that civil servants officially sponsored for training abroad are under bonded agreements and monitored for compliance upon their return. The state government continues to uphold strict accountability in personnel development and capacity-building initiatives.

The Commissioner reiterated the administration’s commitment to transparency and effective talent development within the public service. He assured Lagosians that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration remains focused on building a professional, motivated workforce equipped with the right skills to drive service delivery and innovation.
