The Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA) has taken a significant step toward workplace inclusion and empowerment, providing work tools and assistive devices to over 50 civil servants with disabilities.

At a special presentation held at the STO Resource Centre, Ikeja, LASODA’s General Manager, Mrs. Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, emphasized that the initiative is designed to enhance productivity, accessibility, and dignity for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) working in Lagos State.

“These work tools are more than just equipment—they are enablers of efficiency and confidence. With these tools, our colleagues with disabilities will contribute meaningfully to Lagos State without barriers,” she stated.

Among the distributed items were 23 laptops, nine speech-assisted laptops (Freedom Scientific Version 2024) for visually impaired civil servants, motorized wheelchairs, and prosthetic support. Additionally, 11 beneficiaries received N1.1 million each to purchase specialized prosthetics.

The initiative aligns with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to social inclusion, as reaffirmed by Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Oke-Osanyintolu.

“Governor Sanwo-Olu is ensuring that individuals with disabilities receive full support in all aspects of life, from accessibility to empowerment. This initiative will improve service delivery and productivity in Lagos State,” she stated.

Beneficiaries expressed heartfelt gratitude, acknowledging that the support would enhance their ability to contribute effectively in their workplaces.

LASODA reaffirmed its commitment to continuous support for PWDs, urging Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to adopt inclusive practices that enable persons with disabilities to thrive in the workforce.
