Lagos Expands Access to Social Health Insurance with ILERA EKO Provider-Led Enrollment

The Lagos State Government has officially launched ILERA EKO provider-led enrollment, training 163 provider-led agents to facilitate wider health insurance coverage across the state.
The initiative, driven by the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA), aligns with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s Executive Order mandating Social Health Insurance for all residents.
Speaking at the training held at STO Training Centre, Alausa, Ikeja, LASHMA’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Emmanuella Zamba, emphasized that the program will expand access to health insurance, ensuring affordability and quality healthcare services.
“This innovative approach will create jobs, improve healthcare coverage, and enhance accessibility, especially for residents in the informal sector who make up 75% of Lagos’ population,” Dr. Zamba stated.
With an Equity Fund increased to N3 billion, Governor Sanwo-Olu’s administration is committed to ensuring vulnerable residents receive subsidized health insurance, reinforcing Lagos’ position as a leader in universal healthcare coverage.
The initiative further establishes Lagos as a model for other states in achieving affordable and inclusive healthcare services.
