The Lagos State Electrification Agency (LSEA) has taken a proactive step in securing solar infrastructure in 172 schools across the state by hosting a Stakeholders’ Town Hall Meeting themed “Protecting Government-Owned Assets”.

Held at the Education Resources Centre, Ojodu, the forum brought together government officials, school administrators, principals, and Tutor-Generals to discuss measures for safeguarding the state’s solar infrastructure investments.

In his keynote address, Hon. Jamiu Alli-Balogun, Commissioner for Basic Education, stressed the importance of community involvement in securing these facilities, advocating for community policing as a key strategy to prevent vandalism.

The General Manager of LSEA, Engr. Balogun, represented by Mrs. Adetokunbo Ladega, reiterated the state government’s commitment to sustainable education through investments in renewable energy. She emphasized that securing solar installations is crucial to ensuring uninterrupted power supply for learning environments.

Engr. Mariam Babalola, Director of Renewable Energy at LSEA, provided technical insights on proper use and maintenance of solar batteries, cautioning against overloading them with unauthorized appliances, which could reduce efficiency and lifespan.

The meeting concluded with a call for collective action, urging schools, communities, and government agencies to work together to protect and sustain Lagos’ educational infrastructure for future generations.
